CIRCULUS VITIOSUS (MAKE IT GRETA!)

Collaborating with the H.P. Buber Artefakte Collection, Moussa Kone developed a site specific drawing for a building in 20 by 8 meters. It is located in a pedestrian's alley at the central square of a small village in Lower Austria. The historic square was under construction and completely re-designed. Previously it consisted of avenues lined with chestnut trees. Green fields dominated. Now, there is a two-lane roundabout for cars and trucks, massive concrete structures and cobblestones. The ongoing environmental destruction and the dedication of public space to traffic quickly became part of the work. The skin pattern of the snake is inspired by the Austrian traffic sign for roundabouts. The caught figure reminds us of a young environmental activist. The wristwatch in the middle of the drawing is a real ticking clock, synchronized via an online connection. The work is a memorial and shall make by-passers think about our society's future politics. A small booklet is available on the spot. Publicly accessible at Hauptplatz 7, 3243 St.Leonhard am Forst, Austria.
